I'm Nasser Qadri, a software engineering manager and former Staff AI Engineer at Google, with a PhD in Politics & International Relations. For 15+ years I've built data and AI systems for cybersecurity, healthcare, finance, national security and diplomacy.
About
Where engineering rigor meets social science.
At Google I've worked on both sides of AI engineering. As a Staff AI Engineer in Google Cloud, I led large teams shipping zero-to-one GenAI products. Now, as a Software Engineering Manager in Google, I lead engineers building AI platforms and agents in the Office of Cybersecurity Resilience.
I also trained as a social scientist. I hold a PhD in Politics and a Master's in International Relations from the University of Glasgow. That training shapes how I build and think about AI and engineering. I care about how systems behave in the real world, under regulatory, security and human pressure.
I'm most interested in where these worlds meet: how AI is reshaping geopolitics, security and diplomacy, and how we manage the risks it creates for organizations and for societies.

Politics, international relations and public service have run through my whole career, from academic research to data science for U.S. foreign policy and national security.
U.S. Department of State
Led a data science team that collected and analyzed COVID data to drive the Department's pandemic response, shaping return-to-work planning for 100K personnel at posts in 100+ countries.
Foreign policy analytics
Led an NLP program to analyze speeches by foreign leaders, turning political rhetoric into structured insight for policy modeling.
Academic grounding
PhD in Politics and MSc in International Relations from the University of Glasgow, focused on security, migration and how media shapes political debate.
Public & social sector
Years of building technology for nonprofits, membership associations and agencies such as the U.S. Department of Education, plus statistical modeling at Gallup.
